Employee Assistance Foundation
Our value-driven culture means we are here for each other in times of need. Established in 2005, the Dollar General Employee Assistance Foundation has provided support for team members experiencing a family crisis, suffering from the loss of a loved one, or home damage due to a natural disaster or fire. We come together, donate, and support our DG Team when they need it most.

We focus on addressing issues that help meet basic needs and help position individuals, families, and communities for future success.

Creating pathways of opportunity through literacy and education.
The Dollar General Literacy Foundation
Education is a great equalizer and a fundamental right for everyone, no matter their age. The Dollar General Literacy Foundation invests in programs that help individuals learn to read, prepare for the high school equivalency exam, or learn English. Since 1993, we have awarded $238M in grants to nonprofit organizations, impacting more than 19.6 million people.

Increasing access to critical resources to provide hunger relief and support for children’s health.
Hunger relief
To ensure our hometown communities have access to nutritious foods, Dollar General partners with Feeding America to help reduce food waste and support local food bank distribution programs. Since 2021, we have donated $3 million to Feeding America and supported their affiliate food banks with millions of pounds of product — equal to over 22 million meals!
Children’s health
Our work supports St. Jude’s life-saving childhood cancer research. Since 2006, Dollar General has partnered with St. Jude Children's Research Hospital to raise more than $30 million through corporate gifts and our annual in-store Thanks & Giving campaign. We also support patients and their siblings yearly by donating free toys, participating in fun craft activities, and enjoying time together.

Helping protect the planet through sustainability efforts and disaster relief.
Aiding sustainability
Sustainability drives us. Through our partnership with The Arbor Day Foundation, we have advanced reforestation efforts and created green spaces in urban areas. In 2022 alone, we planted 75,260 trees, restoring over 129 acres of green space.
Disaster recovery
Our partnership with the American Red Cross supports their recovery efforts and allows us to help those in our communities. Since 2001, Dollar General has provided the American Red Cross with over $8 million in corporate donations and in-store collections to aid relief and recovery efforts following natural disasters in our communities.
